Navratri 2024: Nine Forms of Durga
Navratri is an annual Hindu festival celebrated in honor of the Goddess Durga, also known as the Adi Parashakti. It is celebrated over nine nights and ten days in the month of the Chaitra and in the month of the Ashvin. In this article, we share the nine forms of Durga of Navratri.
Ashvin Navratri is celebrated with a whole lot of pomp and grandeur all over the country. This year Ashvin Navratri starts today October 3, 2024, and will go on till October 12, 2024. The nine forms of Goddess Durga of Navratri include:

Maa Shailputri
The first form of Goddess Durga is associated with the Shailputri, daughter of Mountain and an incarnation of Parvati. She carries a trishule in her right hand and a lotus flower in another. Plus, she is depicted as riding the bull, Nandi.

Maa Brahmacharini
Maa Brahmacharini is the first form of Maa Durga who worshiped during Navratri. She is depicted as the female ascetic form of Ma Durga and Unmarried One. She is another incarnation of the Goddess Parvati with a rosary bead made of ruddraksh in her right hand and Kamandalu in her left.

Maa Chandraghanta
On the second day of the Navratri, Maa Chandraghanta is worshiped, also known as the Maa Ranachandi. She is the embodiment of beauty and it is also symbolic of bravery because is believed to always be ready to fight demons. She has a half moon on her forehead and she is wife is the God Shiva.

Maa Kushmanda
Also known as Maa Ashtabhuja Devi, Maa Kushmanda is worshipped on Chaturti. She is depicted as riding the tiger and believes in the creative power if the universe.

Maa Skandamata
Maa Skandamata is worshiped on the Panchami is the mother of Skanda. It is believed to have their eye, for arms and is mounted on a lion.

Maa Katyayani
Devi Katyayni is the known warrior form of the Maa Durga and skin to kill the buffalo asura Mahisa and is ho to exhibit courage which is symbolized by the color red..

Maa Kalaratri
On the seven day of the Navratri, Devi Kalaratri is worshiped and believes that Maa Parvati removed her pale skin to kill the asuras Shumbha and Nishumbha.

Maa Mahagauri
Considered the most wisdom form of Durga, Maa Siddhidatri is revered on Eastmi and symbolizes intelligence and peace. She is depicted with four hands, with damru and trident in two hands, and the other two hands in Varada and Abhaya mudra.

Maa Siddhidatri
Maa Siddhidatri is worshipped on the ninth day of the Navratri. She is sitting on the lotus and it is believed that she is the embodiment of Magasakti and Lord Shia obtained after praying to her. Plus, she provides for all siddhis.
