Raksha Bandhan 2024: History

One of the legends associated with Raksha Bandhan is linked with the Hindu epic Mahabharata. As per the myth, once Lord Krishan accidentally placed his hand on the Sudarshan Chakra and his hand was bleeding.

Seeing him hurt, Draupadi tore a piece of her saree and clamped it, stopping the bleeding. Conquered by this gesture of the Draupadi, Lord Krishna promised to always protect her. Lord Krishna kept his word when the Kauravas attempted to disrobe Draupadi in public in the royal court of Hastinapur.
