Hindi Diwas 2024. Like the other National days, Hindi Diwas is marked on September 14 every year. On this day, the Hindi language was assumed as India’s official language by the constituent Assembly of India in 1949. Moreover, the first Prime Minister of India, the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru officially declared 14 September as the Hindi Diwas.

Meanwhile, current Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a greeting to the people during the Hindi Diwas. PM Modi on X, “Many best wishes to all the countrymen on Hindi Diwas.”

On the other side, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his wishes to the people and said that All the Indian languages are heritage and pride, without enriching them we cannot move forward. Today, it completed its 75th year and this year it celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of the Hindi Diwas.

Hindi Diwas 2024: History

On August 15, 1947, when India gained Independence, the government needed an official language for communicating with the public. After 2 years, the Constituent Assembly of India accepted Hundi as the official language of India on September 17, 1947. Furthermore, Hindi was adopted as one of the official languages under Article 343 of the Indian Constitution. In addition, the first Hindi Diwas was celebrated on September 14, 1953.
