Shipping ministry to host Indian lighthouse festival in Puri on October 19-20
The Union Minister of Ports, shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW), Sarbananda Sonnowal will inaugurate the second Indian Lighthouse Festival at Puri Beach. This festival aims to celebrate India’s rich maritime heritage and promote tourism.

As per Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for MoPSW on his X post, the 2nd edition of the Indian Lighthouse Festival at Puri Beach will be hosted on October 19 and 20. Moreover, The two-day festival seeks to promote lighthouses as tourist destinations with activities. These activities include beach yoga, beach clean-up, sand art competitions, food festivals, music concerts, and many more.
Further, Sonowal Sir announced the celebration and invited everyone to join in the celebration of the country’s coastal and maritime heritage.
The event helps people to connect more deeply with India’s coastal roots and aims to educate and entertain attendees. Furthermore, the program is part of the Lighthouse Heritage Tourism campaign established to convert 75 historic lighthouses into tourist destinations.
Moreover, in the two-day grand event, local artists, dance troupes, food and cooking stalls, concerts, and similar activities will be managed to attract the general public to the lighthouse.
The festival will also be attended by historians, archaeologists, and cultural anthropologists. Plus, it also witnesses many others interested in history, culture, and society, who will engage in interesting discussions about maritime history during the event.
