LXL Foundation organized 7th Edition of the School Cinema International Film Festival
LXL Foundation organized the 7th edition of the School Cinema International Film Festival, the country’s largest children’s film festival. SCIFF was screened at almost 3000 schools, and participation was from more than 10 lakh students in Delhi. Plus, in Karnataka, the festival was screened at around 200 schools, and more than 38,000 students participated.
Moreover, the School Cinema International Film Festival also witnessed the participation of over 85,000 students across more than 3,200 schools in the Northeast region. Plus, the SCIFF further screened 700 schools and participated in around 1 lakh students. This festival aims to transform education by bringing global cinema to Indian classrooms.

According to the information, over 8 million students from more than 30,000 schools, which includes 25,000+ government schools participated in the PAN India film festival. Plus School Cinema International Film Festival is formally known as the International Kids Flim Festival (IKFF).
In 2024, the festival brought together 80+ films in more than 15 languages from over 20 countries showcasing diverse themes such as social justice, environment awareness, mental health, and security.
Moreover, these films were curated to address current issues faced by the students, which makes the festival a significant platform for learning and growth. The Student Filmmaking Competition is the third section of SCIFF, complementing the WATCH and LEARN sections. WATCH consisted of films submitted by global filmmakers for school screening. Also, LEARN featured workshops by industry experts to teach students the art of filmmaking.
Syed Sultan Ahmed, the festival director stated, “The overwhelming turnout and appreciation for SCIFF 2024 is a testament to the growing significance of initiatives similar to ours in the educational landscape. As the festival gains momentum year after year, it’s clear that incorporating film into the curriculum is no longer a luxury – it’s a need”.
He also added, “The impact we’ve seen, from the student engagement and support from educators, underscores the immense potential of film pedagogy in fostering emotional and intellectual growth. With this year’s festival reaching millions across 30,000 schools, we are creating a scalable, transformative impact in how India approaches education.”
