Krishna Janmashtami is an annual Hindu festival celebrated in honor of the birth of Lord Krishna, also known as Laddu Gopal. It is also called Gokulashtami. According to the Panchangam or Hindu calendar, Janmashtami falls on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the month of Shravan. In the Western Gregorian calendar, it usually occurs in August or September. In this article, we are sharing the list of states where there will be no holiday in schools on August 26 on Krishna Janmashtami.

Schools, colleges, and banks will remain closed in many parts of India for this festival. However, the organizations remained open in some states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Assam.

Krishna Janmashtami

Every year Krishna Janmashtami falls on the Ashtami tithi of Krishna Paksha. This year, Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 26 August followed by Haldi Utsav on 27 August. Moreover, Krishna Janmashtami has special significance in Uttar Pradesh, especially in Mathura, where Lord Krishna was born, and Vrindavan, where he spent his childhood.

It is important to note that although Krishna Janmashtami is widely celebrated, some states have not declared a holiday for schools and educational institutions on August 26. The reasons for not declaring a holiday included Dahi Handi on August 27 and various cultural activities in schools.
